Very Thankful Thursday

This week has been full of ups and downs and everything in between and has made me again realize how thankful I am to be where I am and who I am.

I am thankful for my health and the health of my family. I see others who have had their health fail them in some way or other and while I am still coughing (darn dry cough that won’t go away) my health is great and so is hubby’s and my family. Whew!

I am thankful that even though I am surrounded by sadness at the moment I am keeping my head up and being positive. I think I can be more of a service to my friends and loved ones if I keep that perspective instead of letting the sadness in. That’s not to say I’m not sad for them, I am, but as I mentioned earlier in the week, I am going to be a bright beacon for them to pull them back up.

I am thankful for a recent opportunity that has presented itself and what it will mean to myself and my hubby and our future. If I wasn’t staying so positive I know it never would have happened and I am now a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. When things are firm I will go into detail, suffice to say though that it will be a good thing as soon as it’s implemented.

I really believe that in writing these posts it helps to remain focused and keep going. My mantra over the past couple of years has been ‘one foot in front of the other’ and even in the darkest times I have repeated that and it has indeed worked. Did it take time? Yes. Was it hard? You’re darn skippy it was. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

What are you thankful for this week? How do you keep going?

Thankful Thursday

I am admittedly a little late with this post, my schedule has been a bit, well, wacky this week, but I still want to say my thanks for this week.
I am thankful for my best friend, my darling husband, NonDad.
Eight years ago this week we officially started our relationship with a sweet kiss.
Like every relationship, we’ve had our ups and downs, but we did vow to endure ‘for better or worse’ and I am proud that we are still very much in love with each other. I know without a doubt that if I need him, he’ll be there for me and vice-versa. This is sadly becoming rare in some couples and I feel beyond lucky that we have this special bond.
With that in mind, I wish all of my wonderful friends who are in any form of relationship that they can get through the hard times and embrace the good. Life is full of ups and downs, I’ve been through my fair share of them too in recent years, and that light and love will envelop them and their lives.
My hugs to everyone!
What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday

Oh my gosh, is it really Thursday already?! Wow, it totally is. That came up quick didn’t it?

Well, let’s get going shall we? Time to say ‘Thank You’!

1. While it is not as warm as I would love it to be (Ontario was spoiled with a teaser heat wave in March), I am beyond thankful there is no snow and the sun has indeed returned today. (Special thank you to a twitter friend on that one *wink wink* @D1rtyDan)

2. I am thankful for my little family consisting of my hubby and I and our furballs. I cannot tell you how much I love it when I come home, call out ‘Mommy’s Home!’ and Spot and Smudge come running (literally) to greet me.

3. Despite being admittedly a little worn out, I am thankful for a busy schedule. I said to myself during a VERY slow time a few years ago that I would never been ungrateful for being busy so I celebrate it :)

4. In celebration of it being Mother’s Day this weekend I am thankful to my Mommy for being my Mommy. I don’t think I tell her that enough but she supports me constantly in everything I do and is beyond proud of me, especially lately. She is always there for me and probably my most prominent cheerleader too :) . THANK YOU MOMMY!!!!!

On that note, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! You have perhaps the hardest and yet most wonderful job around, you all deserve a lovely day!

Thankful Nonmom Notes

Since I’ve been down with a charming spring cold I missed my Thankful Thursday post last week and since it’s now Monday I don’t want to miss my Nonmom notes so I’m combining the two for you all.

What am I thankful for at the moment?

I am thankful that this cold did not progress to full-on bronchitis which for me it typically does. Being sick and being forced to relax and sit still are not easy for me, just ask my husband, but at least I am on the mend and should be back to my regularly scheduled nuttiness soon.

I am also thankful for the kindness of others and what that can do and how much it means to those who need it. More on that later… ;)

What I’m Proud Of

I had a whirlwind trip and knew that as soon as I got back I had to hit the ground running and I did. I accomplished a lot last week that was weighing me down and I’m darn proud of it too.

I have to keep that up this week despite this cold too. I’ll be making my to-do list after I write this post for sure!

What I’m Up To

Today I’m checking things off my list, doing updates and keeping busy but sitting still (relatively) and drinking lots of fluids. There may be some movie-watching scheduled later since, after all, it is a sick day.

I’m also exploring more options for improvements and growth on Nonmom. I know I have to reach out more and try a few new things and I’m going to make a concerted effort to do so too.

What’s On My Mind

It’s a little foggy at the moment but I’m feeling crafty and have crafts on the brain in general. My husband lives in fear of times like these. The glue gun may come out later. I’ll see ;)

Fun Stuff

On the weekend I rested as much as possible but my hubby’s group of friends were in town and since I only get to see them a few times a year I put on an Oscar worthy performance of a healthy person for a few hours on Friday and Saturday night. It was worth it, very few had seen me in the past 6 months and I was excited to debut the ‘retro-sized me’ to them. It paid off, lots of compliments (which were hugely appreciated and not something I’m used to at all) and  renewed determination to lose the rest.

Woo hoo!

What have you been up to this week?

Thankful Thursday

This week I am focusing on friends and how important they are to me and how thankful I am for each and every one of them.

I have a lot of people I am proud to call friend and while some come and go and some I only get to see once in a long time, they all mean something to me.

When they hurt, I hurt for them. That’s me. I just am that way. When they are happy and celebrating, I am happy and celebrate with and for them.

I have friends all over and some I haven’t even met face-to-face but that doesn’t change the fact that I call them friend.

Meeting a friend face-to-face after only knowing them online is really a treat too. This week I got to do that with my friend Seth Peterson as most will know if they follow me on twitter. Was I  nervous? You bet! How did it go? It was like I’d known him for years instead of a month-ish. We got along instantly and I am happy to say that the friendship only got stronger.

Events like that only reinforce my belief in friends and having them and helping each other to be better, stronger and grow.

With that in mind, technology, while some days it drives me up the wall, has indeed made making and keeping friends easier. I just got Skype on my netbook and I cannot tell you how great it has been to chat with my hubby and see my furballs while I’m away. I can BBM and text and email and Facebook and Tweet and stay connected with everyone all over and it really does make me smile to do so.

In school we got to see our friends daily, now, with all of these toys it’s like that again. And I am thankful for that.

What are you thankful for this week? What makes you smile?

Thankful Thursday

An almost belated post but I still wanted to write it.

This week I am very thankful for a few things related to my current location.

I am thankful that my flight was actually early, and despite warnings from the Captain, it really was very smooth and really didn’t seem to be as long as I know it was.

I am thankful that I got to surprise my parents with a very retro-sized daughter beating my goal of being 35lbs lighter before the trip and actually being 39.5 instead.

I am thankful that I am on this trip in general. It is VERY hard for me to relax, anyone who knows me in person knows it’s nearly impossible for me to sit still, but this trip is allowing me to be ‘me’ and relax and not worry about all of the things that do typically worry me. I know I have stuff to deal with, everyday life stuff that still needs to be done, but it’s also nice to know that the world will no stop if I take a brief break.

And I say this as I’ve been tweeting constantly since I landed and have now got my netbook hooked up to the net ;) .

Everyone needs a break, how do you decompress and what are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday

I’ve had a busy week, and I’m thankful for that, but also other things, so here we go with this week’s installment!

1. I am thankful for this wonderful weather we’ve been having. I seriously contemplated wearing my sandals yesterday because of it. Deee-lightful!

2. I had been a little bit down because I haven’t seen my parents since the beginning of December and, I admit it, I miss them, and it looked like I wasn’t going to be able to go see them until they get home. But then my email chirped and it was a seat sale. I had already resigned myself to not going but I clicked anyway. I lucked out. And I’m counting down until I take off. I’ll miss hubby and the furballs, but we’ll manage.

3. I am thankful for my stubborn streak. Sounds odd right? Well, this time it’s a big benefit to me. Once I set my mind to something it’s very hard to get me off-track so I set my mind to being even more diligent and was down 2 more lbs this week and am determined that I’ll be down even more by the time I take off.I’m at 31.1 gone as of now….and counting.

4. I am thankful that because of the above determination I am going to have to get some new summer clothes. I tried stuff on last night, my absolute favourite LBD now fits again, but all of my capri’s from last summer are, well, a tad bit big. You know it’s a problem when you can shimmy out of them with them done up. I’m putting together a couple outfits but will likely be going down with a light suitcase. This is a problem I have dreamed about for a long time so I’m going to enjoy it. Hard work does pay off, and don’t for a moment think it’s easy, it’s not. But it’s worth it.

5. I know I’ve mentioned this one before but I really am thankful for my darling hubby. He is my best friend and I just adore him. He’s also my biggest supporter and I love, love, love just talking with him. We have great chats.

What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday!

My goodness it is Thursday again and that means it’s time to say what I’m thankful for this week. I must say I’m really enjoying these posts, they really pump me up and I hope they inspire some of you even a little bit!

Alright, on with the fun!

1. I am thankful that my friend who I met on the first day of grade 5, September 1988 (eeeep, it really has been that long!) who has just moved back ‘home’ to Ontario. I haven’t seen her in a few years since she was living in the US but I am over the moon ecstatic that our little group of girlfriends will be reunited again :) . Welcome home Caroline!!!!!!!!!!!

2. For a ‘light’ winter so far. It has meant that I haven’t had to take any snow days and haven’t had to shovel. I know, global warming, but my back and sh0ulders are thankful for the break this year. Now that it’s March I’m expecting the ‘in like a lion out like a lamb’ deal but I won’t complain, I can’t, it’s been great so far!

3. I am thankful that my newest little ‘Extended Nephew’ AJ arrived healthy and happy at 9 lbs 4 oz. He is a Leap Baby and if you’ve followed my tweets the past couple days you know how excited I’ve been and continue to be, I am counting down until I get to meet him and give him cuddles!

I know it’s another short list, but I these ones stand out this week, and I have to save stuff for next week too!

What are you thankful for this week? What is making you smile?

Thankful Thursday

This week I have a few thank-you’s related to my darling ‘Lucy’ and the process of getting her, and I, back to normal :) .

In case everyone is confused as to who Lucy is, Lucy is my car, yes, I’m one of those people who name their cars ;) .

Lucy

Doesn't she look wonderful? :)

1. I cannot thank David and the crew at Assured Oakville enough for the hard work and amazing job they did to get Lucy back to herself. She came back to her mama driving smooth, handling awesome and looking utterly fabulous. The professionalism, attention to detail and actual pride in their work is why there was absolutely no hesitation on my part that she was going to them. THANK YOU!!!!!

2. Believe it or not, but I am thankful to my insurance company. I know, unheard of, but Intact have been fantastic and very helpful. I was nothing but open and honest with them and they’ve been on the ball and efficient and I am pleasantly surprised and impressed.

3. Dr. Jenn, Kate and Pat at Dynamic Health and Performance in Oakville. They got me in right away and have been taking care of me and I’m really noticing a big difference. I’ve been doing my stretches as much as possible and following their directions. They are fantastic!

4. To my darling hubby. He has been a gem with all of this and the extra ferrying of me and wonky changes to my schedule. Thank you dear!!!!

5. I am thankful to myself for sticking with my plan during this whole ordeal and still managing to stay on track. It would have been very easy to get frustrated and just go back to my old ways and not care but I have kept my head up and today am rewarding myself with wearing my super-cute shoes and I feel great, like the me of old. It’s amazing how a pair of shoes can do that, but with me, they can :) .

What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday

Yes, I’m determined to keep doing these posts. They really do help us keep a positive perspective and I need that. It is far too easy to dwell on the negative and I don’t want to do that anymore.

So here we go with this week’s installment:

1. I am thankful there is more work for my hubby this week. Whew!

2. I am thankful to my wonderful neighbour for giving me a much-needed and well-timed ‘kick’ in the fall which has resulted in me being down almost 28 lbs now! She is a gem and I cherish her friendship and support. By the way, she looks flippin’ awesome too!

3. I am thankful for my networking group and its members. They are such a great support and sounding board and really help me focus on my skills. Yes, I do have skills, lots of them. ;)

4. A  big one: I am extremely thankful for my friend Laural. She has no idea how she influences me in such positive ways but she has and does and every time I see her I feel inspired. :) I am so thankful she emailed me about Social Media Week and that we could both get time to go to a seminar together. Big hugs & lattes again soon!

5. I am thankful that both Laural’s and my hubby’s are so patient with us that they are cool with the way we both (well, I assume she does too) get so hyper when we’re going to hang out and then of course they get to deal with us afterwards LOL. Good job boys!

Ok, a shorter installment this week, but very important nonetheless!

What are you thankful for this week?
