A Quickie Crafting Post!

Hi everyone!

Wow, is it me or is spring passing far too quickly? I swear I feel totally behind in my gardening and outside work but then I look at the calendar and realize, it’s only May, there is no way I’m behind… yet.

The battle of me vs. the chives that keep growing in awkward and annoying places is in full swing. I am hoping I have won finally. I even tried pouring concentrated salt on them and they still grew! Grrr. Let’s see if they’ll make it through my latest attack. LOL

So after the battle I decided I would delve into my latest issue of Crochet Today! as a reward. There was the cutest pattern for the cutest little booties you have ever seen that I simply could not resist trying out. You can find the details here: Bowtie Booties.

I pulled out my stash of extra yarn, grabbed a hook, and went to town. I finished them last evening before going to a meeting and I must say, I’m rather proud. These first ones are for 0-3 months but the patten has sizes for 3-6 and I believe 6-9 as well.

Here they are finished, apologies for the quality of the pic, I used my Blackberry since it was quicker:

Why am I blogging this? Well, a) I’m proud of them and b) some of you may not know that I am now an avid lover of crochet and yarn in general. I decided on a random Friday in January of 2009 that I needed to learn to crochet. Yes, I make random decisions like this all the time, ask my very patient and understanding husband, he’ll tell you. I bought a book about teaching yourself, took it home, tried it out and when I got stuck, went on YouTube and then the lightbulb came on and I have been ‘hooked’ ever since!

I adore trying new things with the craft while admitting I’m still learning, and am loving every minute of it. So, if you want to talk yarn addiction, I’m on Ravelry and need to make some crochet friends!

  1. Cute booties! Go to love the joy of trying new patterns!

  2. I got the magazine last Friday and it was all I could do to not try the pattern out as soon as I opend it. LOL

Now I’m dying to try another pair, in a bigger size! Will keep you posted!
